Manufactured circa 1920'-1930's by Maxolite. Back when these lights were manufactured, blue porcelain shades were far more expensive to produce than their white or green counterparts, thus they cost substantially more. So much more in fact, people rarely bought them. This resulted in fewer being produced, fewer surviving and higher cost for the ones that did. This one happens to be even more rare.
It has a flat shade that allows the bulb to light in all directions instead of straight down or a little off to the sides. I've never had another like it. The nearly century old socket was in no condition to safely serve. I replaced it with a brand new, top-of-the-line socket that.A ground wire along with a 2 machined. The socket is UL Listed and should pass even the most stringent. Bulbs are so much shorter than they were when this shade was. Without it, the bulb would be lost in the lights neck. For those of you looking for perfection, this light is probably not for you. If you want your light to look vintage and perform like new, then you found your light! These old guys are so hard to find but worth the search! The light measure 18 inches in diameter and 20 inches to the top of the hanger.
From the bottom to the point the pipe enters the shade is 8 inches. The down-rod is galvanized and 12 inches long. I can change that to 3, 6 inches, free of charge. If no other choice is made, the original 12 galvanized will be sent. The swivel hanger will allow the light to hang plumb even from a ceiling that is not level. It also helps protects the lights from bumps and bruises if struck. The length of the wire will accommodate up to a 30 inch rod.
I will include the wire-nuts, might save you a trip to the hardware store! All electrical items should be checked and installed by a professional electrician. I'm a very fast and careful shipper.
